CECAFA: TZ ladies eye clean-sheet vs Zanzibar

The CECAFA Under-18 Women’s Championship has gathered momentum as Tanzania go head to head against Zanzibar in an explosive fixture at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam today.

The two sisters are ready to settle their differences on the pitch with each targeting to claim maximum points in order to stand a good chance of winning the championship.

So far, it has been a good ride for Bakari Shime’s side who have managed to win their two opening matches and are now focusing to stamp a third successive triumph.

In their first assignment, they defeated Burundi 3-0 before outclassing Ethiopia 2-0 hence if they excel to stun Zanzibar, it will be a third straight victory for them to cherish 9 points in the bag.

Speaking after Ethiopia success, Shime said he was pleased with the way his players approached the match saying they adhered to the game plan.

“We played good football today (Thursday) and the most important thing is that we won the match after converting from the opportunities we created.

“As of now, we just want to focus a lot on Zanzibar of which we are aware that it will be another difficult match to us, but we are ready to face them,” Shime said.

However, for the Isles ladies, they are yet to taste a victory in the ongoing competition after going down 3-0 to Uganda in their opening fixture of the contest.

They are searching first win of which they can get if they succeed to overpower Tanzania in a seemingly tough encounter between the duo.

Until now, Uganda and Tanzania are the only two teams with six points apiece and are yet to concede meaning that when they meet, it will be a tense match to witness.
