CEOs Luxury Retreat Golf Tournament Achieves Dreams

ABOUT six years since its inception the Luxury Retreat Golf Tournament for Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) has already started to live up to its expectations.

The 18-hole competition that was meant for Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Diplomats from different countries ended in Mangapwani, Zanzibar, recently.

Organised by Sea Cliff Resort and Spa Golf Club of Zanzibar, the World’s Best 9-Hole Golf Course located at Mangapwani, close to the Indian Ocean, it has been a successfully organised event in recent years and attracts golfers from abroad.

While the annual golf tournament saw French golfer, Garry Chandelier clinch this year’s title, it also recorded bumper entries for the first time. Impressing with fiveunder 41 stable Ford Points Chandelier won the overall title, beat over 100 golfers, and was awarded multiple prizes sponsored by Kenya Airways and Finaltus Investment.

The club’s manager, Elias Soka told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ that the growing number of participants at the tournament is evidence that it is in the right direction. “We are so encouraged by the level of the competition going forward, we will assure even more success next year,” he said.

Gross winner saw host Mussa Foum who carded 78 shots, winning multiple prizes from Exim Bank and TBL Tanzania. Ladies were not left behind in the competition as Okhueleigbe Ebosaotale from Nigeria posted an impressive 40 points and won the title. She snatched a number of prizes from Kenya Airways and Nathan Digital.

Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) golfer Sigifrid Urassa returned 35 points to win the men’s A Division trophy and multiple prizes proudly sponsored by Nathan Digital and TBL Tanzania.

Division B Winner was former Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) Chairman Joseph Tango with 38 points awarded prizes from Max Insure and Zanzi Resort. In Division C, Fahmy Mbaraka (pictured) from Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) won prizes from United Group and Comnet.

Soka said that everything is in place to take the tournament to the next level from next year. The club was delighted to receive a record entry as over 100 men and ladies’ players from 13 countries from across the globe took part in this year’s event.

Countries represented in this year’s event included Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Zambia, Italy, France, Germany, Dubai, India, South Africa, Japan, Korea and host Tanzania.

The sponsors of this year’s tournament, according to Soka are Kenya Airways, EXIM Bank, Finaltus Investment Kenya, Prin Plus Media, Digital Dubai, Rahisi Solution Ltd, Castlelite, Dodoma Wine, United Petroleum Group, Maxinsure Tanzania, Com. Net, Melia Zanzibar, Essque Zalu Zanzibar and Sea Cliff Zanzibar.

Organised with the aim of boosting Zanzibar tourism the event has already started to gain trust and lives up to its expectations
